Eat the Rainbow!

Eating the rainbow is a simple way of saying: eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables every day. Each color represents different nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that do amazing things for your body. So, when you fill your plate with colorful foods, you’re giving your body a bunch of tools to stay healthy and strong. Whether you’re munching on a red apple, nibbling on some green broccoli, or savoring a yellow banana, you’re doing something great for your body!

Red – Power Up with Antioxidants 🍓🍅

What’s in it: Red fruits and veggies are packed with antioxidants, which help protect your cells from damage. You’ll find these nutrients in foods like tomatoes, strawberries, red peppers, and watermelon.

Why it’s important: It supports heart health, fights inflammation, and even helps improve skin health. So, the next time you enjoy a juicy slice of watermelon or a sweet red pepper, you’re doing your body a huge favor!

Orange – Boost Your Immune System 🧡🥕

What’s in it: Orange foods are rich in vitamin A. You’ll find it in carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges, and cantaloupe.

Why it’s important: Vitamin A is a superstar when it comes to keeping your immune system strong, your vision sharp, and your skin glowing. Plus, it helps your body heal faster when you get a scrape or cut.

Yellow – Energize with Vitamin C 🍋🌽

What’s in it: Yellow foods, like corn, bananas, and yellow peppers, are packed with vitamin C and other essential nutrients like potassium.

Why it’s important: Vitamin C helps your body fight off colds and infections and helps you feel energized throughout the day. Plus, it keeps your skin healthy and helps you absorb iron from other foods!

Green – Strengthen Bones & Muscles 🥬🥒

What’s in it: Green foods like spinach, broccoli, peas, and kiwi are rich in vitamins K, C, and several B vitamins, as well as calcium and iron.

Why it’s important: The nutrients in green foods help build strong bones and muscles, protect your heart, and keep your body running smoothly. Plus, they’re great for digestive health, keeping your tummy happy and your energy high.

Blue & Purple – Protect Your Brain and Heart 🍇🍆

What’s in it: Blue and purple foods—like blueberries, eggplant, and purple cabbage—are packed with a type of antioxidant that gives these foods their deep, vibrant color.

Why it’s important: These antioxidants help protect your brain, keep your heart healthy, and fight off chronic diseases. Eating blueberries can even help improve memory, so they’re great for kids who need to stay sharp for school!

White – Boost Heart Health and Immunity 🥥🧄

What’s in it: While white may not seem like part of the rainbow, white foods like garlic, onions, cauliflower, and mushrooms are rich in nutrients that can’t be ignored.

Why it’s important: White foods contain compounds that help fight infections, lower blood pressure, and improve heart health. They also help your body absorb important minerals like calcium and magnesium.
